I Fell For You:<\/b><\/p>\n

‘My early artistic ideas came from a 3-year experience as
\na commercial fisherman in Alaska. At the time, my work
\ncentered on ideas consistent with the locale: hermetic
\nfabulousness, escape, odyssey, and the sublime.
\nTodayperversities of the sublime continue to influence the
\n way I shape projects. A consensual explanation of the
\ncontemporary sublime would acknowledge that there are
\n thresholds of human perception and a desire to explore these
\nthresholds connecting ourselves to a greater environment of
\nunderstanding and awareness. At the root of my work is
\nan interest in human experience.’<\/em> <\/p>\n

Threshold:<\/b><\/p>\n

‘Borrowing from fluxus films Threshold is filmed in Iceland
\nand the Oregon Coast and made for a project with The
\nArcher Gallery.
\nThe video takes place where land meets sea, where the
\nlandscape moves from vertical to horizontal, and
\nassociatively between life (verticality) and death (horizontality)’<\/em><\/p>\n

I’m guessing the club formed by the intersection of the sets of
\nexperimental video makers and of former commercial fishermen
\nin Alaska is a fairly exclusive one.
\nJack Ryan upholds its honor in these two exhilarating
\n(but totally uningratiating, no puppy-dog-eyes here) pieces.
\nI especially love “I fell…”.
