Gotta Catch’em All (2006, 21.2MB, 3:50 min.)
‘A fun little short film I did at CCS with the help of my cousins Jack,
and Kaitlyn. This is CG character animation composited over video..’
by Mark DeRidder.
Hekje (Fence) (2006, 4.2MB, 1:52 min)
If Maurice Bogaert tried this in my local Sainsbury’s
he would be dead meat, so points for a twisted kind of courage.
Amusing, if frothy, item found at BasementArtProject.
Treehouse Kit (excerpt) (2005, 2.3MB, 1 min.)
Excerpt from a single channel video installation and sculpture by Guy Ben-Ner.
“Treehouse Kit” consists of a large wooden tree created from recombined, generic furniture.
The sculpture is presented along with an instructional style video in which Ben-Ner
(in swim trunks and a huge beard, a cross between Robinson Crusoe and an archetypical Israeli settler) converts the pre-fab tree back into a rudimentary home.
Originally commissioned for the Israeli Pavilion at the 51st Venice Biennale 2005.
Knights Of Arcadia (2006, 26MB, 4:20 min)
Rudy gets kidnapped and Casey sets off on an 8-bit quest
to rescue him. from Galacticast.
Talking Heads (2003, 12.8MB, 1:09 min)
Ain’t Nobody Got It (2006, 18.1MB, 1:35 min)
Two movies from Irish artist & curator Kev Flanagan.
I like them both, but there is something so utterly fuck-off mad
about the Aguilera cover, with its fine disregard to boot for any known
production value, which totally does it for me.
The performers in that are Cian McConn & Stephanie Hough
who as Margaret and Jim have their own neat line in performance…

Patrick Lichty, artist, writer, curator & wit, the man responsible
for the excellent Intelligent Agent, has donated a decade’s worth
of his video work to DVblog.
We’ll be showing it all over the next few months.
We start with these wonderful pieces: smart
& delirious, made mostly with images from a
Casio WQV-1 WristCam watch which is B&W with a resolution
of 100X100 pixels, ‘both the embodiment of technological determinism’ ,
Lichty comments, ‘and its antithesis.’.
I mostly have the urge to run fast from stuff which is fashionably
self referentially about the technological, often so worthy but oh-so-dull.
Thing with Lichty is, dull it is so not, rather, simultaneously
light (in a good sense..not dumbed down & simplistic,
but playful & engaging) possessed of genuine humor,
& just chock full of ideas & joyous invention.
Borat on Politics (2004, 25MB, 3:31 min)
Official Borat Homesite.
The Phil Collins Singalong Hour (2006, 96.5MB, 9:17 min)
Art Pt. 1 (2006, 52MB, 8:50 min)
Utterly wonderful & deranged work from Jamie O’Brien.
Up there with the best – well… er… entertainers
in terms of comedic edge & timing & chutzpah & derring-do
but at the same time this work has the imaginative
breadth & the sheer smarts that lots of wannabe
performance artists could only dream about…
